In 1985, while serving as a young man in the United States Army in South Carolina, Bruce Gauntt hired on as a part-time flooring installation helper for nights and weekends. Learning the trade quickly, he soon established his own installation company. Upon discharge from active service, Bruce went full-time as a floor covering installation contractor, implementing his talent for the mechanics of installation while recognizing the significance that exemplary service has in maintaining the vendor / customer relationship. His abilities in customer satisfaction were soon recognized by the local industry and Bruce was offered a position “in-house” as an account specialist with a local flooring contractor.

Omega's History
Since returning home to the San Antonio area in 1989, Bruce has developed and maintained relationships with local general contractors and end-users that are now over 30 years old. In the mid 1990’s Bruce pioneered the implementation of dealer representation and installation for GSA contracts for San Antonio’s 5 military bases.
Technology
Omega Commercial Flooring developed and patented a Method and Apparatus for the installation of carpet tile (Patent # 7,082,662 B2), specifically for use when replacing carpet tile in libraries. This method allows for the replacement of carpet tile without lifting or moving the book stacks, thereby maintaining minimum disruption while keeping the library fully functional and operational during carpet replacement.
